A Path to Freedom: Support Pouria’s Move from Iran to Romania

Pouria is a 20-year-old young man who has lived in Iran his whole life. Life in Iran is difficult, depressive, mentally painful. Most youth in Iran is depressed. For people like Pouria, there is no hope and no opportunity in Iran. All he wishes is to leave the country, go anywhere -- anywhere but Iran is better for him- and start fresh. "My sin and mistake was being born in Iran", "Why Iran out of all countries?", "Out of all the prosperous periods in history that Iran went through, I had to be born in this era, during the Islamic regime", "Why was I born here?

Pouria is a smart person, works hard, is skilled in photography and Photoshop and is the best son, grandson, brother and cousin ever. He, like every other young Iranian, dreams of emigrating.

An opportunity came up for Pouria to leave his third-world country for good and move to Romania, where some of his relatives are currently located, but this is sadly not an easy feat. The currency in Iranian is best described as worthless. Your average Iranian citizen is struggling to get by or bring food to the table. Pouria deserves better. His smarts, potential and talent will rot in his corrupt home country. He sees the world differently from his peers, this resulting in him being an outcast in Iranian society. He suffers from depressive episodes due to the conditions of living under an authoritarian regime.

Only the most privileged are offered the chance to leave Iran. Basic things such as receiving a visa are huge obstacles for people like Pouria, but it is not impossible. If he has enough money he can successfully start a new life in Europe, and make his mom- who has at times worked 5 different jobs at the same time to raise him- and himself proud. His country and the people who lead it have failed him, but he knows there are good people out there.

The support he receives will go to the immigration process, plane tickets, housing, necessities , insurance, studies and living expenses until he is able to find a job. Pouria will work hard, because he knows how rare this chance is and how lucky he will be if it works out for him.
