A new classroom for the 6th grade

I am an English-French teacher who is in charge of 16 pupils from 6th grade in a little school in Arad, Romania.

I love my students so much. They are all good and happy kids. This school year thy really did much better than in the last one, and I've decidd that I will make my best to improve their old classroom and make it more friendly, modern and welcoming so that they can enjoy their time spent in school.

Unfortunately, many of them have poor financial situations: some have a single parent, some have both their parents gone abroad and they are in charge of their grandparents, others have special learning needs. We also have a few students who live in the countryside and have to come in town every day. There is also a little girl who lives outside the city in the suburbs with no electricity or hot water.

Taking in account all these diverse and unhappy situations, these children do not afford to buy themselves new chairs and desks in the classroom. Also, because our school is little, the funds that we get from the town hall are enough just for paying the bills, not for modern boards, desks, chairs and other things that we see in classrooms around the world.

I have started this whole process last year when, in November-December, I managed to obtain from different good hearted people, 2 whiteboards. We changed the old blackboards which were ugly, rusty and you could not write poperly on them because they were damaged. My pupils were extremely happy, they live the new whiteboards. They say they can write easily and also thy do not get messy or ingale the chalk anymore.

What I plan to do this year is to buy in the classroom new individual desks and chairs, change the floor, get beautiful colored curtains and also change the teacher's desk which is old and ugly and would not fit in our new classroom. Also, i would like to get stickers to put on the walls to make them more fun with quotes that will inspire them every day. Our classroom lacks also, a few shelves to be able to put our stuff and a new hanger for their clothing.

The cost of 20 chairs and individual desks is 1000 euros, the new floor is around 800 euros and the rest of the needed items such as curtains, shelves, stickers/pqintings for the walls will be around 200 euros

I have hope in this prohect because I do it with all my heart. There is nothing more beautiful than seing the happiness in these beautiful childrens' eyes.

This prohect is a project that will benefit the other generations from, because this classroom will be used by other children too in the future. So it is a long term project. It will gave an impact in our community as well, because after the project is finished we ill be able to present the new classroom to the parents and write in the local media about it in order to attract more pupils to our school, taking in account that this a major issue for us at the moment. Many families prefer to take their children in the city centre where the famous schools are. There, the classrooms are all well equiped and modern.

I strongly believe that with dedication we can change this.
