A call for help for the 8-month-old Maria who is fighting a tough battle for her life, since the day she was born.
Maria was born prematurely - 33 weeks and 5 days - and was diagnosed with an extremely rare Syndrome called MMIHS (Megacystis – Microcolon - Intestinal Hypoperistalsis Syndrome or Berdon Syndrome).
It is a disorder that affects the proper functioning of the stomach, intestines, kidneys and bladder.
Specifically, as far as Maria is concerned, there is no peristalsis in the bladder, small and large intestines. As a result, Maria cannot be fed normally.
Τo date, she has undergone 8 surgeries with more to follow.
At this time, the baby is feted parenterally, which in the long run may affect the functioning of the organs and may require multiple transplants.
Moreover, she is very vulnerable to infections which subsequently require emergency hospitalizations.
As it is a constant and unpredictable struggle, Maria's family is in a difficult position, unable to meet the high costs of medical bills.
Therefore, we address a dramatic appeal for any financial assistance and support, in order to offer little Maria a chance to live.
