A kidney warrior’s new battle

My sincerest greetings to you our friends and strangers. Wishing you the best day ahead. I am Raymund Fernandez also well known by many as Coach Dong or Coach Dfern. I am an IT specialist by profession for more than 2 decades now. I am also a part time basketball coach for kids on developmental stages and adults for recreational and commercial leagues alike for more than a decade now.

I just have a simple family life. Not much complications and only focuses on my family’s daily survival and on our kid’s developments. I only have 2 kids by the way now ages 21 and 15 and with which we were very proud of their accomplishments at their very young age.

Until some challenges passed our way last 2019 when I was hit by chronic kidney disease stage 5 or END stage renal disease. It was truly devastating that I almost lost my life when it hit me. Luckily there was still time to recover. Although it really hit our finances greatly so we were forced to asked for financial support then just for us to cope up with the challenges since we were really caught on a very wrong time. Then was when I first asked for help thru this platform #GOGETFUNDING. Friends and strangers alike responded overwhelmingly that really helped us a lot. Although since that ordeal, it was never made easy for us in terms of finances. It was really a struggle especially with the high cost of dealing with dialysis and medications. Most of my income goes to my medical expenses and only a spare atre left for my family’s daily expenses.

And as a lone breadwinner, I have no other sources of funds. Then pandemic came that made the situation even worst.

We thought the struggles will just be limited to my kidney issues. Never have I known that eventually we would encounter another. Everything is doing well for me. For the past 3 to 4 months, most of my monthly monitoring laboratory results were exemplary. Most of which are on normal ranges and I really felt good. Until last Monday, August 23,2021, as I just started my dialysis session for that day, I began to feel uneasy and experience heavy weight on my chest that made me grasp for air. Practically I was begging for oxygen. It was really a very unusual and scary feeling that I really panicked. It was the first time I felt that and made me very very scared. Doctors that checked me suspected it to be a mild stroke.

After that ordeal, I already connected to my cardiologist and immediately I was scheduled for Angiogram procedure. Sadly, the result was not great. I was recommended to immediately undergo angioplasty to implant 2 stents on the blockage found on my coronary arteries.

Friends this is the reason why you are currently reading this. Me and my family would like to appeal to your kind hearts if I could ask for some love offering so I can raise the needed amount to have my angioplasty procedure done immediately. We are looking at P400,000 for this as what our doctor suggested. But I really don’t have the means to produce that large amount. Ever since my kidney problem, our finances had really struggled. So as of now all we can really do is to pray that we surpass this again. It is really melting to think that we needed to face another challenge like this. But I need to be strong and fight. And only God is the only one keeping me to hold on.

Please we do not want to force anyone. Please, only if you are capable. We also know the struggles especially during this pandemic. We truly understand.

We would really appreciate those who could help us financially and thru prayers. Rest assured that we will treasure this for the rest of our lives. An opportunity to prolong my existence and still see my 2 kids be professionals and succeed with their aspirations in life will be a very special gift and privilege and I would be very glad and proud to say and acknowledge that you were a part of it and I will be forever grateful.
