My Father started his animation career in 1988 at Fil-Cartoons Inc. under Hannah-Barbera production as in-betweener working with Snorks, Smurfs, Yogi Bear and other animated shows from Warner bros and Disney animation until 1990. In the following years, He hops around animation studios as a freelance animator since he never graduated college due to financial problems. He also started sub- contracting short episodes and directing animations in both local and international.

With a keen interest and talent for creating children's animated product, He starts to develop his own characters and stories. In 1991, he joined Mowelfund Film Institute’s film and video workshop and the Goethe Institute’s sound techniques and later started creating characters for short films both live action and animation. One of those was selected as entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival entitled “Melvin and Mekka” short film category. In the same year, He started designing the stereoscopic lens reflex attachment for SLR and movie camera. Stereoscopic film making becomes an interest and obsession which he always wanted to apply on his presently proposed animated TV series project “THE MAGIC HAT” and the planned feature film “MERDING”.

In the year 1999, My dad sub-contracted animation production full episodes from Glen Kennedy of Amberwood Entertainment’s “THE HOZE HOUNDZ” from Canadian TV series and oversee co-productions in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. He also worked in 2 different years In Hyderabad India as Animator, Kolkata India as Character Designer and in Amman Jordan in 2009 to work with the “PINK PANTHER” series. In the later years Melvin brought in Jordanian Company (CurlStone Animation) and handled the management and supervision until 2014.

And now, with his creativity of arts and technology, My dad’s Flippen Comics and Animation would want to share his vision of entertainment and education to enhance the audience admiration.

Life can be hard sometimes especially in the Philippines and he’s already of old age and with your help you can make his ideas and dreams come to life and that would be the ultimate blessing.

Much Love.
