Campaign Story
The upturned curve of the first letter of Cebu resembles the smile that is commonplace amongst Cebuanos, a people of positivity, warmth, and jovial nature. All that changed in the space of night.
Category 5 super typhoon Rai (locally named Odette) squarely hit Cebu, Philippines on the night of December 16, 2021. Cebuanos found widespread devastation in its wake. Houses and hard-earned properties were reduced to rubble; there was widespread loss of electricity, telecommunications, and basic services. Dwindling water and food sources forced everyone to queue up for hours to receive meager sustenance.
Your GBS Philippines family was not spared from the desolation.
Several members of our team completely lost their houses and were forced to live in makeshift tents. Personal artifacts and basic necessities were washed away along with precious memories of their house and home.
