A Fundraiser for Mom’s Hospitalization and Medical Bills

An Update:

Hi Everyone,

On May 19, 2020, our mom April Dream Rico suffered a massive stroke following one of her regular dialysis sessions at Don Benito Hospital. She was revived and quickly rushed into the ICU and subsequently hooked onto a mechanical ventilator. Since the incident, Mom has been unresponsive and is still housed at the ICU of the hospital. As of June 5th, she has been subjected to a tracheostomy and has had the ventilator slowly weaned off.

Her condition is being sustained through continuous dialysis sessions and albumin injections. Mom still hasn't woken up yet, but we are extremely grateful for everyone's help. We have received several heartwarming messages from her friends and students which we let her hear despite these difficult conditions caused by the pandemic.

We would like to knock on your doors and your hearts once again to help us give my mother a fighting chance. We understand that the world is in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic, but if you can spare any amount, our family and I would like to express our most sincere thanks from the bottom of our hearts because we need all the help we can get in paying for her albumin and dialysis treatments.

Mom has always been a "mom" not just to us but to almost everyone she has encountered in her life. A wonderful teacher, a compassionate friend and always a positive force wherever she goes, Mom has made sure that she is able to help. It warms our spirits and hearts to hear how she is a great teacher, a wonderful friend and a loving mentor to her students and colleagues, and how she always strives to see and bring out the best in people through teaching/mentoring.

Thank you for including Mom in your thoughts and prayers, and for your kind generosity amid these trying times. We appreciate the testimonials and stories that you would like to share with us. We will read it to her so that she'll hear and know that they're people other than her family that is rooting for her recovery.
