RiVER DOM

For one year now we have been building RiVER DOM - a campsite by the Danube river in the north-west part of Bulgaria. I own the land and the location is beautiful. It is very close to a river island which in the summertime bathes its glory in sandy banks, shallow waters and the sounds of soaring birds. Believe me, paddle-boarding at sunset leaves me breathless every time.

A bike path takes you to a gorgeous botanical park, dedicated to our poem-writer and revolutionist Hristo Botev. Right beside it you'll find the harbour of a national historical treasure - the ship-museum Radecki, which leaves it's dock for a short cruise at least once a month.
Only ten minutes walk from our camping site is a cozy river-view restaurant with a pool, bar and a lounge area. Down the bike path a fish restaurant is currently being built.
The place has so much potential for tourism and all the new touristic features are beautifully aligned with nature.
As you could probably tell by now I am so passionate about this place. I can't wait to share it with more people, and for this reason I am preparing a lovely camping site, where our guests can enjoy long weekends or long holidays, hopefully all year long. The place is RiVER DOM

When planning this dream place I attracted and inspired my partner. Together with our knowledge and know-how combined we felt stronger and determined to succeed with the camping venture. This project is already financially supported by a foundation called 'America for Bulgaria' with a symbolic funding which was enough to motivate us both to fully dive in. Applying for America for Bulgaria's grant and proving our reasons and points was such a thrill and I'd love to share more about it with everyone of you who is interested.
After many months of travelling to and from the capital to work, we both have moved to the future RiVER DOM location to work remotely and dedicate more time and effort to our dream. We have a tiny old villa here, and we are currently developing it in a way to be convenient for us so that we can support our business venture with our full potential.

What are we building/ installing in our camping site?:
1. A geodesic dome with 6 meters diameter aligned with a terrace.
2. A platform and a wooden wood-burning jacuzzi for 4 people.
3. Sanitary zone (shower; two WCs., two sinks, laundry machine).
4. Solar water heater, serving the sanitary area.
5. Electrical network installation of all the camping site needs.
6. 3 camper/ caravan parking spots.
7. Little outside kitchen area including camping gas hobs, little oven, kettle, coffee machine.
8. Kayaks, camping equipment, paddle boards, life vests, etc.
9. Video and photo materials, brochures, social media advertising, drone footage.
10. Fence - a sliding gate, a porch and a protective fence for the camping front site.
11. Entrance welcoming sign and a patio.

The dome, with its balcony, will be a chill out area for the guests during the summer season, and a venue for hosting different workshops and events. It will also be available for private rent along with the wood-burning jacuzzi. Our long term plans for a sustainable business are to add a small sauna and to make RiVER DOM attractive for booking in the cold months as well.

What support do we need ?

We need funding for the last two mentions in the list above - the fence with its details(a sliding gate, a porch and a protective fence for the camping front site) the patio and a welcoming sign .
All has been calculated in the project proposal for 'America for Bulgaria' foundation but the project was submitted before the so called war issue and the high inflation which keeps rising. Thankfully we could get changes in the budget approved and we manoeuvred many of our initially planned expenses but here we are needing a very important part of our venture - the fence, the porch, the sliding gate, the patio and the welcoming sign. We are not settling for a compromise on this one. For you

Can you guys imagine that long ago when my father was a schoolboy and Bulgaria was in the Communism, he contributed to rebuilding the national historical treasure ship-museum 'Radecki' with a single brick and a piece of iron that he found in his home. Thanks to his and each of his schoolmates' small contribution now this ship is still welcoming visitors 2km away from River Dom. It's not that he understood the bigger picture back then or the Communism was fair :), but isn't it a great example of how the combined support can make a difference. Can preserve, rebuilt, initiate, stop or start processes and produce great success stories that last.

Along with the fence we will fix the alley where the caravans and campers will easily be getting in from the main road. This will be done with square parking pavement pieces, where grass and soil are growing in the open square areas, but cars and heavy vehicles can drive on. Big thin stones called 'tikli' from the Rhodopi mountains will be used to locate the three parking spots and the patio inside the camping area .
I know that some of you guys would be happy to free their agenda and come help us, making their hands dirty. However we are at a point where we would not be able to outsource work as it needs precision and timing.
