Help Liren get back to school next semester.

Hello, my name is Liren Shih. I live in Taiwan and am currently a freshman student at a University from Mainland China. It's been almost a year since I started my college journey, but it is also the same period of time that I have been taking online classes. At first, in September 2020, where I should fly to Mainland China to pursue my education, COVID-19 was a big concern. Thus some of the students, including me, were allowed to participate in online classes. However, if I still keep on staying in Taiwan for the next semester, I may not get enough credits I would need to graduate.

My family and I couldn't afford to postpone my studies for another year because of financial reasons. But for the same reason, I am also struggling to save enough money to continue pursuing my studies. I did have part-time jobs and still doing my internship, but since I live with my family with two senior citizens, I had to cut off most of my job because of the growing case number of COVID-19 here in Taiwan.

Flying to China means I would need to pay for not only the plane ticket but also the fees for swab tests and the money I have to spend on hotel and meals for 21 days of quarantine when I arrive in Mainland China. Other than that, I also have to prepare a good amount of money for my tuition fees.

This financial pressure is giving my family and me a hard time. My dad also has a lot of unpaid loans on his bank credit. Thus student loan is not an option. And now that COVID-19 is getting worse here in Taiwan, it's also a dilemma for our family whether to continue going to work or not. We need our jobs to earn money, but we are also risking not only our health but also the lives of senior citizens that live with us.
