Campaign Story
My thesis paper entitled, "Life Skills, Hopefulness, and Happiness of College Students in the University of the Philippines, Diliman" has been selected for presentation at the 18th Annual Conference of the International Society of Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The conference will be held on August 25-28, 2020 at the Van Der Goot Building, Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
The primary goal of my thesis is to study the relationships between happiness, hopefulness, and life skills of College Students in the hopes of understanding the possible factors affecting them. Interestingly, results of the study showed that in general, the college students had moderate to high levels of subjective happiness and hopefulness. Similarly, they showed average to high levels of cognitive life skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, majority of them displayed low levels of emotional life skills especially in terms of coping with stress. The study also revealed strong positive correlations among life skills, hopefulness, and happiness. The results of the study support the importance of providing emotional life skills training and education to high school students as part of their preparation for college life.
In line with this, I wish to solicit your help in funding my trip to this conference to present the findings of my study and raise awareness on a global level.
