We believe in a world of equality and oneness. We imagine a world where everyone cares and everyone helps one another.
Hope Homes is a project that started in Athens in 2016 with the vision to shelter homeless people all around the world. Having a ‘home’ is a human right.
We have invented a way to build temporary shelters made out of re-used plastic that have no cost, using the weaving-bottle technique. They are built by stacking plastic bottles and weaving them with re-used fabrics or strips of plastic bags. It is an easy technique that anyone can easily learn! Through workshops we want to spread this sheltering technique in order for people from all around the world to learn a way to shelter themselves or help shelter other people. We need financial support in order to send volunteers all around the world to teach the 'weaving-bottle' technique!
The whole process of making one structure is an opportunity to bring people together, work, interact and especially with the homeless people. We tend to forget how important companionship is and that homeless people are lonely. By collecting one bottle at a time, storing it and meeting with groups of people to build a shelter, creates a small community of people who want to be part of this huge movement; a movement that inspires people to take action and make this world a better place!
We hope that one day everyone will feel responsible of making this world a better place for everyone! As Albert Einstein said:
‘The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.’
