I saw Murray's plea for help on Twitter so I reached out to him to learn more about his situation. After 2-3 months of back and forth discussions and questioning, I decided to move forward with launching a full scale awareness campaign for him. He is unable to work to make money, yet the Saudi's want him to pay debts before he is allowed to leave the country and get back home to Canada and his family. He is also unable to seek medical help in Saudi Arabia. We took over this Go Get Funding campaign which was originally created by Murray, as a stipulation for helping him to guarantee transparency.

His costs:

• House Rental $26,000 CAD / $20,000 USD
• Car Rental $6,000 CAD / $4500 USD
• Work Permit $6700 CAD / $5000 USD (required even if he plans to leave the country)

This totals around $38,700 CAD / $29,000 USD - This does not take into account the payment processing fees and funding platform fees which totals 7% combined. Additionally, there may be hidden costs/fees imposed by the Saudi's.

The Canadian Embassy is able to help provide the plane ticket back to Canada, but they are unable to assist with any other costs.

All raised funds will be processed through the "Go Get Funding" platform and money will be held by "Durham Region Operations" which is just an identifier for the activist group helping Murray with this campaign.

All of the funds will be distributed under the observation of representative(s) from the Canadian Embassy in Saudi Arabia. Money will be distributed to Murray incrementally for each particular unique debt accompanied by invoices, receipts and verification from the Canadian Embassy during the entire process.

My family is finally now in Canada but because of the more than one year dealing with the Canadian embassy here in Saudi Arabia I am stuck here in Riyadh and need to clear some payments before I am allowed to leave. The payment for the house rental has been forwarded to the court for payment and my work permit is now blocked from the Government because of this.

If the process with the Embassy here had been expedited previously this problem would not be faced now!!!

I am adding some videos here for people to get the idea of what I am facing and why my family is now in Canada for 3 months awaiting me!.

Also I want to state that this campaign is merely for me to pay the costs that I have here in Saudi Arabia that have not been paid due to the fact that I have not been able to work for the last year and a half and also that the Canadian Government has taken so long to grant the small payments for the tickets to return back to Canada. This campaign has nothing to due against the Saudi Government.
