850km in 37 Days | TheOcamino for DESMOS Foundation

From the 28th of June until the 2nd of August, Themos Sgouras will be doing the Camino de Santiago de Compostela also known as Camino.

The route is about 850 km. Starting from San Sebastián all the way to Santiago de Compostela, Themos will be completing 23km per day for 37 days. The Camino started as a pilgrimage in the Middle Ages and was later certified as a Cultural Route by the European Council and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Camino runs through the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia and is quite diverse: secluded sandy beaches, remote cliffs, endless meadows, the Atlantic Ocean, historic cities and dense forests.

Today it is considered a transformational experience for thousands of people, an opportunity to get in touch with nature and oneself, with people, culture and history.

Themos aims to run half the daily distance and walk the other half, so that there is time for socialising along the route, but also for taking in this unique experience.

The purpose of this endeavour is to transform the Camino into a route that will have an even deeper meaning. Thus, this project will be done in collaboration with "Desmos Non-Profit Foundation" in order to raise donations for its work.

Desmos functions as an effective and reliable giving hub, that bridges the gap between the private sector and the needs of social welfare and humanitarian organizations in Greece. The Foundation adds value at all stages of the giving process by documenting needs, communicating with donors, linking supply to need, creating and implementing programs where appropriate and reporting on the impact of each donation.
