For more than its 107 years of continuous service to the community, the SVPP’s commitment to serve remains to be strong and steadfast and will continuously serve the growing community of Catholic believers, visitors and devotees of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and will always faithfully practice the virtues of Saint Vincent de Paul of serving the poor and the less fortunate through charity works, formations and evangelizations. However, in 2019, Manila was hit by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake, which caused huge cracks and heavy damage to the physical structure of the church, which may put the safety of the churchgoers at risk.
To address this concern, we have invited teams of experts and engineers to assess the structural integrity of the church building. Per assessment, it was found out that the physical structure of the church was seriously deteriorated and was further worsen by the huge cracks and heavy damage caused by the earthquake. We are afraid that this may trigger a bigger damage and partial collapse of the structure, if not attended to immediately. Hence, the experts and engineers has recommended the IMMEDIATE RETROFITTING of the church to prevent further damage and partial collapse of the structure with the estimated cost of the project of Fifty (50) Million Pesos, including the renovation of the sacristy, church altar, adoration chapel and repainting.
Relative to this, the SVPP launched the “50 FOR SAN VICENTE DE PAUL” a fund raising project which aims to raise Php50M for the RETROFITTING and restoration of the integrity of the structure of SVPP Church and to guarantee the protection of all churchgoers
