49% of the Kenyan population are children, and over 75% of these children experience a violation of their rights on a regular basis, such as limited access to: safe water, an education and health services. Due to these kids situation, a lot of the time they cannot afford to buy food which often leads to malnourishment, later leading to severe health issues.
The Feeding Program from Positive Life Kenya tries to tackle this issue by offering 3 hot meals a day to our students at Kiotani and Tumaini New Hope School. However, our feeding program meets a lot of challenges due to the inflation of food prices. 90% of families in the slum use their money towards food, so ever since the inflation these families now cannot even afford to buy food. Now a days our children rely on our feeding program more than ever, which is a lot of pressure for us.
Here is some more information about Kiotani and new hope Tumaini school:
The Kiotani School is a Primary School and Boarding Facility for more than 200 children, including highly vulnerable and orphaned children from surrounding communities in the area.
The Tumaini School, on the other hand, is a day school located in the Kicheko slum areas of Mlolongo. Tumaini provides a basic education, and daily nutrition to over 250 vulnerable children between the ages of 3 to 14 years old.
Donations are a major part of what enables Positive Life Kenya to continue helping our forgotten communities in Kenya.
