Gathering money for the trial expenses of Maggos family

On the 13th June 2020, the 27-year-old activist Vasilis Maggos participated in the struggle against the burning of rubbish in Volos. The crowded march held on that day was met with anunprecedented repression by the police authorities, with arrests, detentions and injuries of citizens outside the factory of AGET-LAFARGE. The next day Vasilis was at the Volos courts in solidarity with those arrested on June 13th. He was targeted by the police, arrested and tortured outside and inside the police station. His physical and mental health deteriorated, resulting in his death a month later. After the provocative reluctance of the police authorities to proceed with the investigation of Vasilis abuse, his family decided on the 16th June 2021 to file a complaint against the police officers involved in the torture of their child. In particular, the Legal Coordination Group has taken over the legal dimension of the case in order to find and punish the physical and moral offenders. The political and moral dimension of the issue has been actively taken over by collectives, groups, individuals. Based on the above, the political graffiti group Political Stencil, in collaboration with the Coordination of Collective Organizations Volos, intends to paint a graffiti on a building that has been -generously- granted for this very purpose: the visibility and the promotion of the long judicial struggle of Vasili᾽s family, the support of the struggling citizens against the burning of rubbish in Volos and the serious political dimension that they bear.
