Don\'t wish me...Donate!

Throughout the years of social media, wishes have become another PR tool. While I am grateful for the hundreds of messages you send me each year, it is psychologically difficult for me as I feel obligated to respond to each one personally...but I never do. So this year, I decided to do something different.

This year I would like to ask you, instead of wishing me with a message or a phone call, to make a small donation to theTransgender Support Association!

TRANS PEOPLE

The term "transgender" is an umbrella term to describe anyone who believes that the gender they were assigned at birth based on their genitalia does not describe them.

SOME PROBLEMS

Among other things, transgender people in Greece are called to face the following:

• Social Isolation and Stigma
• Discrimination and Violence
• Inadequate Health Care, including sex-affirming treatments and surgeries
• Difficulty Finding Work and Housing
  

TRANSGENDER SUPPORT ASSOCIATION

The Transgender Support Association is a non-governmental organization of a voluntary nature, which was founded in March 2010.

It is recognized by the State under Reg. No. Attica District: 19388, and through Decision No. Prot. 7646/2010, of December 2010, as amended by Decree no. 42/2020 of the Athens Magistrate's Court.

It was founded by 23 founding members and now has around 220 regular members, while among the structures that operate voluntarily in the context of our actions is the operation of a Psychological Counseling/Support Group both on a group and individual level, both in Athens and in Thessaloniki, Regional Secretariat for our members who are outside of Athens, based in Thessaloniki, as well as many specialized Secretariats on individual issues, while among our actions is legal advice/support through lawyers who work with us on a voluntary basis for discrimination issues or racist violence, while issues of solidarity towards the weakest members of our community play an important role.

According to our Statutory principles, the aims of our Association are the promotion and support of equality and the equal treatment of people in Greek territory based on identity, expression, or characteristics of gender and sexual orientation, the abolition of any form of discrimination, the development of solidarity to support rights due to gender identity, through the publication of printed or electronic materials, public events, and debates, the establishment of advisory or scientific committees, organization of workshops and conferences, as well as establishment of a hostel to support the weakest members of our community.
