Elaine's Progress 4

Update posted by Elaine Dang
Hello friends, family and supporters,

It's been a while since we've updated you all on Elaine's update.

Elaine is still practicing yoga regularly which is helping her overall recovery, but is particularly beneficial in activating some of her nerves that were damaged in her leg and arm.  She has also had a few follow up appointments with doctors.  All seems to be progressing well and we are waiting back on a few more tests.

After a fairly long search, Elaine has found a mental health professional.  Yay! Elaine was adamant on finding someone with the right chemistry and fit to help her address her PTSD and other challenges she is facing.  She is really interested in learning more about the different types of trauma treatments and is going through one in particular, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) herself.  She will undergo other methods as well.

Additionally, Elaine and her sister recently returned from a fundraising event held by the Los Angeles New Leaders Council (la.newleaderscouncil.org) where she was recognized as a special guest.  Part of the proceeds is going to this fundraiser and all of those proceeds will go to PACE.

Currently, Elaine is exploring how she can support other victims of trauma.  She has a couple of projects in mind.  One is to record the stories of other survivors as a way to document and share the resiliency, tragedy and beauty often tied to any traumatic event.  The other is to work with professionals and organizations to improve the access to services for trauma survivors.

Love,
The Dang Family
