Zizzou moves to California (UK£)

If you know me, at all, you'll know that my better half is a toothless British ginger cat. In 2007 I got a call from the Celia Hammond Animal trust in a particularly nasty part of east London. They told me someone had brought in a 3 year old ginger cat that had been abandoned in a high rise apartment, alone, by his owners who moved to Dubai. The owners had told the building security guard to give the cat food once a week. After 6 months of doing this the security guard decided this was no life a for a cat and brought the cat into the shelter. I went in that afternoon to meet said ginger cat. He was skinny, he liked to flex his claws as I scratched his head and complained when I stopped. An hour later we were sitting together on the DLR on the way home. This little creature has seen me though the best and worst times of nearly a decade. He is a demanding cat, he doesn't listen , he won't eat cheap food, and he takes up most of the bed but these are all things I miss every day that we are apart.

Since I left London to find my way in the wine world, Zizzou has been left in London in the best hands by someone that understands the unique intricacies of his funny personalty. Now that I've found permanency again, I want to lift this burden from his carer and be reunited with the one life I am solely responsible for.

Easier said than done. I had no idea how pricey this wish was going to be. After being unemployed for 4 months the hit of his travel expenses seems completely unreasonable. His flight will be £503, his flight approved carrier will be £80, his veterinary pre clearance will be over £100, his cab to the airport will be £60, his US import clearance cost will be £50, the bits and bobs he will need to make his journey comfortable will be around £50. Its a lot.

So, I'm cashing in my chips! If I've ever supported you or your charity in any way I hope you can now help me and Zizzou be together again. I've set an arbitrary goal. Any additional funds I raise beyond what is needed for his travel will be donated to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust. They are an incredible animal shelter that offer affordable animal care to low income housing residents of London, they volunteered to save hundreds of feral cats from the Olympic site while it was undergoing construction in London, they only operate on donation basis and the place may not look like much but without them there would be a lot of homeless pets in London if they had to shut their doors.

You don't have to donate, but please don't underestimate how much being reunited with this creature means to me. Thank you friends.
