Zion Community Clinic

We are part of the Charity Zion Medical Community Clinic, established in 2013 to respond to the crucial problem of high mortality rates in the region, which is a result of abrupt deaths from preventable and/or curable ailments.

The clinic is located in Muturuvillage, about 30 km from mbale district in eastern Uganda and is geographically isolated because of the topography in the mountains. 95% of the population lives on less than a dollar a day and cannot afford quality health care and transport to far away referral hospitals over 8kms.

There is high mortality and morbidity rate across all age sets due to preventable diseases and unavailability of a nearby health unit. There is no possibility for emergency cases, as there is no transport system existing.

Children suffer a lot due to improper medical care, absence of required drugs, vaccines and limited professional health practitioners.

The top common causes of morbidity and mortality are:

common cold, pneumonia, malaria, malnutrition, sexually transmitted infections including HIV, diarrhea, skin diseases.

Upcoming project:

The aim of this fundraising campaign is to buy a solar powered refrigerator for vaccines. We have a cooperation with a company for renewable energy „Dulas“ in UK which is supporting us.
All steps are initiated and all costs are calculated.
But we still need more financial help to realize this important and major change for the community.
