Friends and family, this campaign has been created to assist Zenden win his first battle against epilepsy by getting him, and his parents to Cape Town to see Dr James Butler at Constantiaberg Mediclinic.

Dr Butler is a neurologist at Constantiaberg Mediclinic who specializes in treating people with epilepsy.

Zenden will need to be admitted for a few days of video EEG recordings. Additionally, Dr Butler needs to evaluate the cause of the seizures and determine the available treatment options, which may include surgery.

The quote from Constantiaberg Mediclinic is R19,500.00 just for the stay, excluding treatment and EEGs.

The goal of this campaign is to raise the money required for the stay, however any additional funds, over and above the R20,000.00 will be welcomed as the total medical costs could be between R50,000 - R60,000.00

The money raised through this campaign will paid directly to Constantiaberg Mediclinic in the name of Zenden Meiring. The proof of payment will be shared on facebook, as well as on this campaign.

Zenden's story as told by his mother, Nicole Meiring :

Diagnosed 7 June 2019

"Zenden was born at Mercantile hospital Port Elizabeth on the 3rd June 2019. We started noticing him pulling stiff and not being able to breath properly for a few seconds and never really took much note of it. Then it started happening more and more during the day and I took him to a pharmacy and was told he might have bad reflux so was given medication. Yet he kept doing this movement so I called his pediatrician and he asked me to make a video and send it. After half an hour, we sent the video and he called us immediately instructing us to bring Zenden back to the hospital. He was admitted and went for bloods and a lumbar puncture. Next day he went for a CT and MRI scan and was confirmed that he has epilepsy. He is on three different medications but he is still having seizures. He suffers from absence seizures and tonic-clinic seizures. His about 3 months behind with his milestones and it’s so heart breaking. We have been advised that if he has one major seizure he can possibly become disabled or worse die from the type of seizures he is having. We need to get him to Cape Town to see Dr James Butler, a neurologist at Constantiaberg Mediclinic who specializes in treating people with epilepsy. But we cannot afford all of the medical costs involved. We are now pleading and asking our community to assist us. Whether its advice ideas or donations would be greatly appreciated."
