Save Zangano association

Finca Zángano is a non-profit ecological farm and community located in the Teno Rural Park, northwest of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. This magical place is home to a great biological diversity and constitutes an important refuge for many threatened species. Thanks to its great climate, it has a great variety of ecosystems.

Our project aims to allow anyone to experience a responsible lifestyle, respecting the environment and participating in the creation of a sanctuary for pollinators and wildlife in order to protect the biodiversity of this fertile corner of the island, which has maintained the life almost without threats for millions of years.

While remembering the responsibility we have as inhabitants and cohabitants of our planet, to accompany shared processes in the development of the species that we interact in a certain place and in this way take care of life and their organic relationship between species

Due to the economic crisis caused by Covid, which has particularly affected the tourism sector, the main economic engine of the islands, Finca Zángano can no longer bear the costs of maintenance and rental of the land, since the only funds we receive come from donations, visitors, and the seminars we offer about permaculture, natural beekeeping, consistent gardening, and sustainability.

The farm runs the risk of being replaced by another banana plantation . This massive monoculture has already destroyed the habitat of native fauna and flora , turning the area into a production site. To sustain this commercial harvest, water is over exploited , extracted through galleries drilled deep in the island's mountains, and the soils that nourish and sustain life are devastated .

We need your help to make this happen. It’s a steep mountain for us to climb, raising the necessary money to safe this place before April 2021. Time is running short. That is why we are reaching out to the global community, to all those who know the importance of protecting the wildlife and natural habitats that we have maintained intact.
