My name is Jessica and i am 16 years old. In august of 2018 I will be taking part in an expedition to Zambia and Botswana for three weeks with a group from Oaklands Catholic School. During the expedition I will be taking on challenges such as the Mwandi trek, where I will walk through villages surrounding Mwandi, following along the Zambezi river. I will meet with the local people, whilst discovering their way of life and trek for four days, walking up to 8km per day. I will also spend time contributing to a community project, where I will be volunteering with the Jungle Junction school project, helping to develop a local school, either building or teaching, in a small community in Zambia. The expedition has been designed to develop us as young adults, improving key skills such as communication, problem solving and leadership as well as teaching us to travel safely and have an in depth understanding of other cultures.
As part of my preparation for the expedition I will have to raise £3695. This will be a challenge but will help to develop my entrepreneurial and fundraising skills.
I will be very greatful for any donations because I think its very important for young people to experiance other cultures and be able to get involved and help people in poorer less developed countries.
