As many of you know, I will be traveling to Zambia, Africa on July 11th where I will be teaching English at some local schools and volunteering my time for about a month. This is something that I have always dreamed of doing and volunteering is my all time favorite way to give back to those less fortunate. After looking into shipping costs for sending physical materials across the country, I have decided to collect what I can to fill my two suitcases, and then bring as much donated money as I can to purchase materials when I get there (which is highly recommended by the current volunteers).
With the donations made to this account, I will be buying items such as paper, pencils, books, soccer balls/sports equipment (which they desperately need right now) and much more. The schools in Zambia are completely run by volunteers, so there is ALWAYS a need for extra stuff. I will be more than willing to take a picture of the students using the material that will be purchased through the donations, and will keep track of what your money has been used for to include in a thank you card from the students. If any businesses would like to donate, send me a shirt or two and I would be more than happy to give you a shout out while we are there or have my students send you a video thanking you.
This is a once in a lifetime chance for me to do as much as I possibly can while I am over there, and help put a little sunshine into these students classroom. My very own 4th graders asked if they could each donate $5 to the students of Livingstone, Zambia. If everyone donated $5 and had the hearts that my 4th graders have, this world would be a better place. Thank you all who consider donating, and if anyone has any physical material that they feel more comfortable giving please let me know!
