Campaign Story
Our son Zack Smith was born healthy on the 29th of November 2019 with PFV (persistant fetal vasculature) which means he was born with detached retina and cateracts in both his eyes. An extremely rare condition for new borns and probably the only child in cape town diagnosed with this condition. As broken hearted parents we started to investigate at Panorama hospital to determine the extent of the condition and if there were any possible solutions.
Dr. Amod (his sergeon) was introduced to us in hopes of restoring our sons vision.
She performed multiple operations to restructure his eye to function normally.
To date he still has complete retina detachment and we can only hope and pray that his brain will now help to continue to grow his retina and attach to the back of his eyes and hopefully give our son a chance at vision and a normal life.
At this point we have been blessed that Zack now has light perception and shows interest in lights and is a completely different little boy to when he was born.
As tears roll down my face even after all the blessings and miracles, i know he will need a host of treatments and intervention so this is the reason for the campaign.
The money will be used for zack, spent wisely
Thank you for your help

It was told that I was born with a cataract in my left eye. It was only discovered at age 23. Although I can see better, permanent damage has been done. I make this small donation because of this. I hope and pray that with time your little guy will see how beautiful the world out there is...
