Yuni was the 3-legged wonder dog who was given a second chance at life when she was saved by a kind-hearted soul near UNILAB United Street in Mandaluyong. She was found to have wounded her leg and limped as she tried to fit through a hole in a fence. When she was rushed to the hospital, one of her front legs was in bad shape and it had to be amputated-- else things can turn out really worse.
The operation was a success and we visited her when she was ready to accept visitors and had recovered from the surgery. She ran about, licked people's feet and hands, so full of life. She had to stay for several more days in the vet before she can fully recover, but we all had high hopes of seeing her in the arms of a new and loving owner, ready to take on the world once more.
Friends who have followed the story of Yuni on our social media accounts, we want to share this bittersweet chapter as it has unfolded in the past few days.
We received a message from the Doctor attending to Yuni. She had passed away. According to the doctor, Yuni that day wouldn't eat and it looked like her tummy was bloated. Something was wrong. And as they proceeded to do an emergency surgery and cut her open again, she was found to have an enlarged uterus, filled with pus. The complication was masked by the antibiotics given to her for surgery recovery hence she looked normal for a while. The doctors did their best, but it was too late.
Yuni had fought to her last breathe and wanted to show us that despite what went on inside her body, she didn't want us to worry about her. She gave us a last smile before she passed on. Life truly is short and unexpected. We know that Yuni is now in a better place, and with her sacrifice, this gave us hope that we can always do something for our furry brothers and sisters.
Thank you as well to Doc of the Philippine Pet Birth Control Center Foundation. You have done all you could for Yuni, as well as having the sincerest intentions for her. She could have been your fur-daughter as well, but we know there is another opportunity for you. Also seen below is the rescuer, the kind-hearted soul who made the first step to rescue Yuni. The girl who made Yuni's few moments left very much meaning. Thank you, Princess Cabaltera.
We now would like to call for support in helping us finance the medical expenses that was for Yuni's chance to woof again. Whatever you can give is appreciated.
Below is the story we made for Yuni as we picked her up and started to prepare this fundraiser. We will not remove it despite what had happened, so you can experience and read her exciting story the time we found her. Bless her soul.
Hi! I Am Yuni and I might just be your next BFF! My 3 legs will show you I'm good at three things: licking, cuddling, and eating! And my one big heart tells you I love being with people and I love to be by your side.
I was found squeezing my way out of Unilab's fences and then limping by the sidewalk. A kind-hearted person was moved by my plight and rescued me. The doctors told me that one of my legs were too broken to be left unattended so they had to take it away from me.
But right now I am doing well with my 3 legs full of life and hope. I am now excited to find my new home and fill it with laughter and happiness.
So, will you be my partner at my second WOOF at life?
