Campaign Story
Recently I got a message from the Royal Society of Biology, UK, saying that my photograph is shortlisted for the Young Photographer of the Year Award. I was delighted and proud so much! I got also invited to the RSB Award Ceremony in London, and sure I really, really want to attend it!
I’m also dreaming of visiting London a lot and seeing its museums I know about, first of all the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Museum of London. I know that entrance to these museums is free, but the exhibitions, for instance the Wildlife Photography of the Year I would wish to see, aren’t.
I live in Lithuania and as a Russian citizen need a visa to go to the UK. I’m also too young to travel alone, so my mum should accompany me.I know this trip is quite complicated and expensive, and would like to take responsibility and try to raise funds for my part of it which is going to be 700 Euro.
I’ll find out if I win the Award at the Ceremony, but I consider myself a winner already if I go to London!
Would you please help me?
Thank you,
Timofey
...and a little more from his mum Galina:
I’m extremely proud of Timofey’s achievement in photography and would like to support and encourage him for more. An opportunity to visit London and attend the Royal Society of Biology Award Ceremony (and maybe even win the award!) is without doubt a great encouragement itself.
So I greatly want him to be able to go to the UK but can’t really afford such a trip and related arrangements. My earnings are enough only to cover our rent and living expenses for me and my two sons. Timofey totally understands that, and we decided to try crowdfunding as he turned out to hear about it already. So we are starting his fundraising campaign.
Please support the young and promising photographer!
Here is Timofey's part of the costs, in Euros:
Timofey's visa 135
Flight Vilnius-London and back 100
Accommodation in London 150
Food in London 175
Internal transport in London 40
Museums fees 40
Trip to Warsaw 60
Total 700 Euro
*Budget note: One-day trip from Vilnius to Warsaw is needed for visa proceedings. British Embassy in Vilnius doesn’t issue visas, and the only possibility to get a UK visa is to go to the UK Visa Center in Warsaw in person. I’m committed to go with Timofey to both Warsaw and London, but this fundraising budget includes his individual costs only.
He got into photography two years ago, and demonstrates talent and growing skills. He started with great interest in close-up photography of plants and animals. This summer he completed an art photography course, and discovered his gift to take profound portraits. Now he continues personal studying with a professional photographer. He plans to become a professional in future. Timofey’s works can be seen here: https://500px.com/timofeyzubarev and here: http://www.nat-geo.ru/photo/user/47526/
These days he often looks at the map of London. On it, he found the Royal Academy of Arts and said he would wish to go there. He rarely speaks out his cherished desires, and I understand how important and how much awaited this possible trip is for him.
Please help this boy to obtain what he deserves and to experience what will inspire his creative and cultural developments!
Love,
Galina
