Young Men’s Retreat

Many young men come out of their teenage years unsure of their place in society.  They have often been told they are no good, or useless, or will never amount to anything.  Often this has been underscored by a lack of love and attention in the family home.  Many have a distorted view of love and relationships.  Many have been abused.  Many have never had the love and support that is so important to grow into healthy adulthood.  Many have sought to escape via drugs or alcohol.  Many have never been told that they are loved and appreciated.  Many have never had the support of their father for guidance and direction and learning about how to cope in today's hectic world. This fundraiser has been launced to raise funds for the establishment of a Center for Young Men.  This centre will be located in a rural setting.  It will be designed to encourage and foster the support of young men by their peers.  It will have a focus on manual skills such as practical care and maintenance of a property.  It will have "bush camping" areas.  It will have areas for recreation activities such as 4WD and fishing expeditions.  It will have various multi purpose areas to allow for groups of young men to "get away" for a long weekend, to escape the bustle of city life. This centre will have a strong moral and christian focus to ensure that proper site rules are enforced to allow for maximum safety for all who use the facilities.  Their will be onsite personnel who will be available 24 X 7 for practical tips on handyman maintenance, wood working, basic motor skills as well  as the counselling and support of the young men. Young men are the future but are too often neglected.  The purpose of this centre will be to cherish these important members of our society.
