"Independent theatre Emma"

is a non-profit art organization founded in 2020 in Zagreb. The founders are academic actresses Tea Šimić and Martina Mandek, who graduated together at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo. The organization was founded with the desire to work intensively in the profession and bring together young artists who are independent and at the very beginning of their careers.

For months, we have been working on a plan and program for 2021, which we want to implement in a quality and professional way, but the main obstacle is the lack of financial resources. With the campaign "Yes to Emma, no dilemma" we decided to raise funds for two plays - "Bukača" and "Porodične priče", which we consider priorities. The texts were written by authors from the region - Martina Mlinarević and Biljana Srbljanović, who personally approved the use of the same without financial compensation and thus relieved us of a part of the costs.

Other costs, without which the realization of projects is not possible, are: props, costumes, scenography, lighting design, poster design, stationery, fees, space rental and marketing. You can be informed about the financial plan of both projects on request.

ABOUT PROJECTS:

-> Actress Tea Šimić decided to do a monodrama based on the book "Bukača" during the lockdown, in an intense search for inspiration. Consequently, the idea of artistic organization developed. Due to various aggravating circumstances, such as the earthquake, the realization was postponed several times and is finally being finalized for the premiere. The author of the music written for the play is a professional musician Amina Belovari. This text is about the simultaneous fight against breast cancer and cyberbullying, and the discovery of many of life's joys in the darkest circumstances caused by illness and cruel hate attacks. This is a show that opens our eyes to raw humanity, the burden that we carry as a part of a specific society, and the core of freedom, parenthood and true love.

-> The play "Family Stories" is performed by academic actors Katija Bratković, Anđela Kusić and Lovro Ivanković, with some of the new crew members that they will receive in the fall when they start the work process. This is how they experienced the text:
"What makes the drama authentic and scary is the unusual fact that the characters are played by children played by adult actors. This basic dramaturgical solution of the author to present the already monstrous world of adults through the vision of children playing families, all other families who, under their thin and weak civilizational culture, hide repression, that is, one constant spiritual and physical violence, which children usually instinctively notice."
This is a show about an individual who should be more important than a family, about a family that should be more important than society and a society that should not be more important than anything.

Please note that your donations affect the quality of our performances, the timing of their realization and the success of our personal careers. If we realized this plays at the desired time, we would have a better chance for prestigious nominations and awards, upcoming guest appearances at festivals and a well-trodden track for a successful 2022. In the event of a successful campaign, our reputation will open the door to new faces waiting for someone to give them a chance.
We have finished waiting and that is why we are here - persistent, positive and patient.

We thank all the donors in advance and we keep in mind that you let your imagination run wild as recognizable artists will one day grow from young talents. Remember our humble beginning, and we will remember your support.

All donors will be on the public list of our WEB site (unless they don't want to), and those who pay more than 16 USD (15 EUR / 26 BAM / 100 HRK) will receive a prize - two tickets for the show of their choice. In this way, we want to create a community that will become our permanent audience and show you gratitude for an act that serves very great goals and, we must say, our dreams becoming true.

If you do not have the option of online payment, you can donate funds directly to the IBAN of our organization:
