The war in Yemen is tragically about to reach its 4th year and yet, the conflict is not getting the media attention it deserves. This is why it is referred to as “The Forgotten War” but no human suffering should be forgotten!!
Over two hundred thousand of Yemenis decided to flee to neighboring countries, one of them being Djibouti. According to UNHCR (2018), more than four thousand refugees and asylum seekers in Djibouti are from Yemeni origin. More than two thousands of Yemenis are settled at the Al-Markazi refugee camp in Obock, the closest Djiboutian city to Yemen (in the north of Djibouti). Despite the efforts of the Djiboutian government and UNCHR. The location of the camp makes living conditions difficult for the Yemeni refugees and asylum seekers. They live under very hot and dry conditions with no access to electricity and the threat of sandstorms.
I am Yasmien Nasser from the Netherlands. Inspired by my friend Zein Ahmed who provided aid two years ago, I created this fundraiser, to help the Yemeni refugees who are living in the Markazi Camp in Djibouti.
My goal is to raise at least 3,000 euros by the end of July 2019 in order to provide aid to the Yemeni refugees who are living in the Markazi Camp in Djibouti. Mid/end of August, I will fly to Djibouti and work together with the UNHCR coordinators. Obock is a difficult environment--there is not a lot around, and the children have lost a lot and are also prone to trauma from fleeing their homeland. The camp does has some child-friendly spaces and learning centers for the children in place. Therefore, the collected money will be used to buy school supplies, toys and candies for children and personal hygiene products which people at the camp currently lack.
Let’s show that we did not forgot our Yemeni brothers and sisters! I ask you all to please donate whatever you can. If you are unable to donate, I would really appreciate it if you share this with your family!
It is our responsibility to help those in need! In sha Allah (God willing), we will reach this goal together and help our Yemeni brothers and sisters!!
Thank you in advance <3
