Yemen Travel Fund.

This campaign is unique: to enable an extraordinary young man, Hamza Alfareh, from Yemen to attend a conference in Estonia. Hamza has created a team to carry out World Clean Up Day in the Yemen and with extraordrinary results. Against the backdrop of war, poverty and disease and above a failed Ministry for Refuse, Hamza has used WCD as a mechanism to help solve the huge and mounting problem of waste collection in the Yemen. By enabling him to take part in the WCD conference in Estonia in 2019, we can give him the platform to deepen his involvement and address on of the biggest issues facing his fellow citizens. Where waste builds disease and sickness develop.

Donations will be used exclusively to fund Hamza's travel to the WCD conference 2019, a round trip that will take around a month and is not without hazards from Yemen.

Here is his story in his own words:

"Greetings from Yemen from the country of war and destruction that suffered from the external war and siege and internal armed conflict for more than four years, which led to the destruction of infrastructure and the collapse of the economy with the death of thousands of people and spread of diseases due to the total lack of government services, which caused the collapse of health and environmental sectors and led to spread diseases and epidemics that have been harvested and continue to reap the lives of thousands of young people, women and children.

The deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen because of the siege and the greed of traders, which led to put two thirds of the people under the poverty line and food , health insecurity with no access to clean water for millions, this humane crisis one Of the largest in the modern era and threaten to scary famine; furthermore the government's inability to pay salaries due to the bankruptcy of the central bank and the civil war, it has not been able to pay salaries to state employees for two and half year, including the health and environmental sectors, which led to the spread of diseases and epidemics such as cholera, diphtheria and malaria, which according to WHO reports is the largest epidemiological crisis spread of disease in history .

Believing in the importance of social and human responsibility and duty towards my country, I have studied, worked and written projects to reach an international partnership with let’s do it World foundation to work side by side and open a branch to involve Yemen in projects aimed to serve environmental field to reduce the spread of diseases due to waste in the streets and dumpsite in order to preserve the lives of people.

Last year I held an agreement with the Organization to equip a branch in Yemen and been invited to attend Country Leaders Academy training and Represent Yemen for the first time in the Clean World Conference. I have processed all this through debts and self-funded. I traveled to Estonia and did everything.

When I returned to work for the first time of World Cleanup day 2018 in Yemen then It have been successful by joining volunteers in seven governorates. This was successfully done without any support or fund from international organizations or governmental bodies. It was voluntary efforts and self-financing from me and the volunteers. I faced many difficulties, frustration and rejection, but my belief in the importance of the message bore everything to make the world cleanup day became reality on the ground.

Now I have an invitation to attend the next international conference in Estonia( Clean World Conference ), where I will participate in the name of Yemen to talk about the success stories and difficulties faced by the economic situation, the siege and the war, as well as the dissemination of the statistics of the project, which was implemented for the first time in Yemen without support and to make recommendations to United Nations and organizations about the humanitarian and environmental situation of Yemen ,also a speech about all of these to establish partnerships and good relations with international organizations to support and implement projects in Yemen, which in turn will contribute to the preservation of people's lives ,earth and bring development opportunities with other solutions ,to motivate people to make positive change through the implementation of World Cleanup Day 2019 so we are all partners in making the biggest environmental movement in the history “according to United Nations”.

I’m here inviting all of you to donate and help me to cover the costs of tickets to make representation of Yemen and Organization become real, because I do not find any support here from any governmental or commercial bodies or organizations. I can’t borrow more even I could not repay previous debts.

My trip starts from my city to the other part of the country passing through conflict areas to travel from the only airport open to Egypt and then applying for the visa and waiting 15 days then make medical insurance and other visa requirements then I travel to Turkey after that to Estonia , after I finish the conference I return back to Yemen , this whole journey takes a complete month."

Hamza has so far funded the whole World Cleanup Day inititiative in Yemen more or less on his own. Now he needs help to take this tremendous effort a stage further.
