WHO ARE WE?

Hello everybody! My name is Ilya Obretetskiy and for the last few years I have been working together with White Crescent Org in Yemen, supporting the running of fundraisers to help the people of the country going through a severe humanitarian catastrophe.

We are aiming to raise money for White Crescent to provide them with the resources to distribute essential life needs for the most disadvantaged Yemeni families and their children as well as supporting the pathology of those with chronic diseases such as brain atrophy, paralysis and disabilities.

Throughout the White Crescent, we are also aiming to support development and construction projects such as education, health, infrastructure and psychological support, especially since Yemenis have been subjected to a war for more than eight years that has destroyed all the essentials of life.

FACTS ABOUT YEMEN

As many of you know already, Yemen is going through the worst humanitarian crisis the world has known in modern times, with more than 80% of the population dependent on humanitarian aid and support. Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis live in famine-like conditions, while millions of other are on the brink of going through the same circumstances. 400,000 of Yemeni children are suffering from acute malnutrition and it is estimated that 24 million Yemenis suffer are experiencing severe food insecurity. These shocking conditions have put almost two thirds of the population of Yemen wondering where their next meal is coming from. More than 50% of health facilities are damaged and out of service due to war and blockade. More than 17.8 million people need health assistance, including 11.6 million people who are in acute need. At least one child dies every 10 minutes in Yemen because of preventable diseases. Over two million children are out of school. 18 million need water and sanitation support. Four million people have been forced to flee their homes.

Help Via White Crescent:

This year, we ask you to do just three simple things:

“PRAY, GIVE AND EMPOWER”

Together, let us pray for the displaced and most disadvantaged Yemeni families. Together, let us give to provide relief for those families. And together, let us empower families and communities through supporting them with essential life needs.

Let’s come together to help and donate as much as we can! Every little counts whether you are able to donate £1, £10, £100 OR £1000! All the money donated will go directly to Yemen and to supporting the families in need (All of the transfer fees are covered by our team members).

WHERE DO YOU DONATIONS GO?

Essential Life Needs – Provides food, clean water, house rental and medicine.

Livelihood – Supports needy people to start their own projects to work, earn and deepen on themselves.

Chronic diseases – Step by step for treatment and provide essential and urgent medical care and needs.

Construction and Development – Supplement of education and medical equipments to hospitals and schools as well as helping in construction and building what the war damaged.

Ilya Obretetskiy (UK Representative)

Ilya grew up in Volgograd, Russia before moving to the UK at the age of 10. After graduating school, he made the decision to go to Florida State University to study International Affairs and Political Science. Shortly after graduating, Ilya met Haitham online which is when they began working together on their first fundraising campaign for Yemen. Ilya currently works in the Public Relations and Public Affairs sector in London while also helping with the day-to-day running of our fundraisers. His role primarily includes the setting up and upkeep of the fundraisers as well as being responsible for making sure that all of the donations reach the WCFYE team.

“I am very proud to be part of this team who inspire me everyday by their amazing commitment to help people in dire need. One of my biggest motivations in becoming a part of this project is the assurance that all of the money goes directly from the donors to the Yemeni people, which is something that is difficult to find amongst the bigger international charities. Finally, I would like to thank all of our donors for their generosity.”
