Yayasan Widya Guna – Beautiful Bali Orphanage

by chance on my trip to Ubud I stumbled upon the most beautiful place - the Yayasan Widya Guna. in 2005 a lovely Balinese couple started an orphanage within their community, they had 12 kids to take care of. now, they have 100+ kids - all from families within the community that can’t afford to send their kids to school / orphans, as well as a large number of children with physical and mental disabilities. unfortunately in Bali, kids with disabilities are not included in schools, but it is the mission of this beautiful place to give these kids a place to learn & develop & feel welcome. the owner told me that he was scared to do this at first, because him & his wife didn’t feel like they knew how to look after the kids. but their heart told them to say yes & they learnt along the way!

they have just recently set up a cafe where the disabled kids will learn & work, giving them a sense of purpose & showing the people of Bali what they are capable of!! (a page of the brochure attached in pics)

have you ever heard of anything more special?! i’ve been to a lot of places in the world - this place is by far the most beautiful, but they need & very much deserve some help. their classrooms badly need renovations as the roof is unstable / falling through & with wet season in Bali, this will be a disaster! they also need some help with funds for the cafe. so, i’ve set up a fundraising page & would love it if anyone reading this post (in a position to do so) could make a donation. no matter how small, it will go a very long way.

we don’t know how lucky we are in our lives, spending time with these kids & the wonderful people who dedicate their days to looking after them has made me realise that more than ever.
