Royal Burgh of Jedburgh Community Council – Christmas Lights Fundraising

Over the last few years the Christmas Lights in Jedburgh have changed from the older lights including the Merry Christmas signs on the High Street and Canongate which usually had letter or letters unlit at times

In 2017 town had new lights in the High Street, part of the Castlegate and Canongate as well as the Christmas tree lights.

Last Christmas the lights were extended into Exchange Street on both sides.

However, we would like to see the lights extended even more possibly into Abbey Place, further along Castlegate, Canongate and the High Street.

As our Treasurer wrote in the Jed Eye (January '19 Edition) "Providing Christmas Lights for the town is expensive and Fundraising will continue throughout the year in 2019".

In 2018, we received, mostly in the month of December, £1,181.14 from donations and sales of Memory Stars from the public as well as donations from local businesses.

This year, as our treasurer has said in the Jed Eye we will be fundraising throughout the year. In order to give people various ways to donate we will have this online fundraiser open and available, so anyone can donate at their convenience and also a more suitable way. There will be other fundraising throughout the year including the usual collection in December.

MEMORY STARS

Memory Stars can be purchased on this fundraiser.

These "Stars" will be placed on the Christmas Tree on Market Place in December mainly to remember people (or even pets) that are no longer with us.

As a bonus for purchasing a Memory Star online, all messages will also be put on a memory page on the Royal Burgh of Jedburgh Community Council's website.

To get a memory star organised it is important that you follow the following steps:

1. Please ensure you use your real name in completing all sections to donate.
2. On the form where it says "Select your reward" you MUST select the option "Donate: £5.00 Or More"
3. After sending your donation and is successful, please send a email to: [email protected] with what you would like to have written on the star (e.g To Gran miss you so much love from Heidi, Frank and the kids). Please check what you want written as it will be written exactly what you send us.

Please note that the email address "[email protected]" is only for providing messages for memory stars. It is NOT for any other communication to the Community Council.
