Campaign Story
This is a fundraiser that will go towards legal fees for Neil Ackerman. He is a son, a father, a brother, grandson, and nephew and friend to many. In 2009, Neil was convicted and sentenced to 30 years for a crime he had always maintained his innocence. Now there is evidence that may prove Neil was telling the truth.
The Appellate Court has ruled in favor of a hearing in the Will County Court regarding his case. This is his one and only chance to be heard and argue his case. Upon legal research and reviewing the cases, it has been shown that there is evidence proving his wrongful conviction. Therefore, this campaign was made to raise money for a Criminal Attorney, who we have hired to represent him. Every small donation is one step closer to being reunited with this family and starting a new life.

Update as of 12/23/2020
Update posted by Allannah Giles at 05:58 pmI would like to update everybody with the status of Neil's case. The attorney we hired specializes in post trial proceedings. Most criminal attorneys do not handle criminal cases after the trial. Over the past 12 years, Neil managed to save up $5,990, which we gave every dollar to the. . . . .
Attorney
Update posted by Nicole Ackerman at 10:28 pmWe would like to thank everybody who has been generous enough to donate to this cause. We were able to retain an attorney who specializes in appeals and post conviction proceedings. He was highly recommended to us by some of the best criminal attorneys in the Joliet area.

Please donate for my brother Neil. He deserves his freedom and another chance for another trial. I can't wait for the day I can hug him and visit with him not behind bars.
