"A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction."
Very true words, penned by one of the most influential authors of our time, the great Virginia Woolf.
And here is my predicament, without beating around the bush, I am a writer that has, at last, started writing. It took some great courage. Also, I've been spending years reading and reading and reading. With that I have amassed quite a number of books, which are all stacked haphazardly in a space I call my "bookroom". This is where I try to write.
But, dear goodness, the state in which it is in - well, it causes me turmoil. It irks me so very much that I do not have proper bookshelfcases so that I can sort my library out.
Herewith I am pressing it on your heart, if you're reading this, and you're also a lover of books and stories and dreams like I am, pretty please won't you make a donation (whatever you can afford to donate). Every little bit will help bring me closer to go and buy all that I need to turn my space here into a room of one's own. And then to best be get on with it and write that damned novel (petulant child).
I take a vow, you're my witnessess here - the four highest bidders when the campaign ends, I will use their name as a character in my newest novel I am busy with. That name might be the lover of our heroine, or a heartbreaker, or a loser of life, or a winner of the universe, or the barista working at the coffee shop around the corner, always listening at the student's lamenting their grave mistakes the previous night.
Immortalise yourself in a South African story - forever and always!
Plus you will make me so very happy.
