Honoring David by helping with his Medical Expenses

EXCITING UPDATES FROM DAVID BOURKE! - "It’s a long time since I could legitimately claim to be a Speedy Gonzales, but this gammy arm and the lung lesions have slowed me right down. All I’m missing is the mobility cart. EVERYTHING I do is slow now, including healing. Specifically, I don’t seem to be getting anywhere with pain.

I have another two hospital appointments with the surgeon and the pain consultant on Friday morning, so we’ll see how they go.

Meanwhile, my life is hobbled, and exceedingly irksome. When I look back on the man I used to be before I left Ireland 14 months ago, I seem to have become ancient and infirm almost overnight. Logic and common sense tell me this is due to some illness(es) and not just the accident. So starting this afternoon, I’m returning to the Intensive Care Protocol.

I can’t find my TENS cable, so I’ll have to do remote. I set up a separate scanning rig last night in my bedroom, so it’s all ready to roll. I know I’ve no choice about doing it, but I can’t help resenting the loss of the hour to scan.

The new presets pack is slow going, but almost there now. Some superb new stuff in this, but the next one or two are going to be very special. The words that jump out of the email at me are “mind-blowing” and “breakthrough development.” It’s things like this that keep dragging me back to the coal-face." - David Bourke

UPDATE from David Bourke - “Oxycodone’s most common side effect is

constipation. Because it became so uncomfortable, and because I felt

toxic and nauseous all the time and lost my appetite, I stopped taking

it. So pain has returned, bringing with it sleep problems once again.

I'm going to use the electronic version. Sometimes, the best solutions

are the simplest.

So, I’ve decided to return to work. I figure that if I have something to

occupy my mind, it will stop me dwelling on pain. Time is still the

best healer. I don't think I'll be able to work as quickly as I used to,

at least for a while.

Working with one hand tied behind my back is a royal pain. So I'm aiming

for two updates a month. However, the first one will, I believe, be a

blockbuster. So will the second.

I have an important hospital appointment on the 18th to verify that the

bone fragments are healing together, and to update the physiotherapy

exercises. On the 28th, I return to the pain specialist. I hope she can

give me an alternative pain control method.

I'm sorry my news isn't better, but at least now I have a way forward.

It's been many years since I had to consider myself before anyone else,

and I've discovered that it can actually magnify problems rather than

make them easier.

Thank you for all you've done.

You took a huge weight off my shoulders

at a time when I needed peace of mind.

For that, you have my deepest gratitude.”

It was one year ago today that some nefarious events happened in the life of David Bourke. However, his dishonorable discharge did not stop him, it only fueled a fierce drive to build five more websites to freely assist those suffering and in need of guidance. Not surprising to those who knew him, but amazingly look how far he has come. Just wanted to thank him for his perseverance during this past year and we hope that his recovery is going well. Much appreciation to everyone for your donations and please continue sending your prayers and positive thoughts.

So congratulations David, get well soon, set forth and conquer! Lets win this victory!

The Spooky2ICU family raised $12,465 in only 30 days! The Goal has been $20,000 to pay off all of David's medical bills. Can we raise the remaining $7535 in the month of September?

UPDATE: Courtesy of Xavier OK. David is feeling slightly better today although he still has some pain. It's worse when he is sitting and laying down but when he stands up he does get some relief. While talking with Xavier, he mentioned that he walked in on David working on his computer! I told Xavier to tell David that his Spooky2ICU Family loves him and says to REST! David smiled. :)
It's encouraging to see the look in his eyes. The look of a man on a mission.

A letter to David Bourke:

Dear Friend,

You feel old, useless and dismayed. You are exhausted and in pain. Your sleep is deprived and you don’t have much of an appetite. We hear you and are here for you. You are understandably frustrated that you don’t have better internet connection. At least we know you are connected, watching and listening…even though you have been given orders not to respond.

You have asked for nothing, but we are here to offer what we can to help lift you up and get you any extra help you might need around the house.
Hire a maid or a caregiver. Do as you wish. Just keep your word that you will be back in a few weeks. We miss you, we love you and we send the prayers at your request.

By the way… The Irish give good advice. Please accept our loving invitation to bless you with some more wellness

Much appreciation has been relayed for all of you from David, so let's keep up the generosity for this extraordinary man as he has given so much to us all.
