The 23rd World Scout Jamboree takes place in Kirara-Hama, Yamaguchi City, Japan between the 28th July and the 8th August 2015

The theme of the Jamboree is “A Spirit of Unity” and will focus on unity, harmony, cooperation, friendship and peace throughout the whole event. The event includes a Peace Programme with great focus on the 70th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a Global Development Village to raise awareness of global issues, Exploring Nature, Cross Road of Culture to encourage respect and harmony among the different cultures of participants, City of Science, Community Service - working with local people in Japan and Water Activities on the nearby lakes, rivers and coast.

I am one of 100 lucky scouts representing Hampshire as part of the UK Contingent and now face the  challenge to raise the funds to get there. I have been doing a number of fundraising activities including: car washing at my local school, bag packing at the local Tescos and Sainsburys, putting up tents for an opera.

I recently completed a 26 mile walk from Salisbury to Winchester along the Clarendon Way on 7 June 2014 and now plan to undertake a London Bridges Challenge on 5 July 2014. So please, please help me achieve this huge challenge by sponsoring me.

The Clarendon Way is a marathon distance walk starting at Salisbury Cathedral and ending at Winchester Cathedral. We started at 8.15am from Salisbury Cathedral and arrived at Winchester Cathedral at 6.40pm. We stopped at Broughton for lunch but otherwise it was a long slog of almost 27 miles. Fortunately the rain only lasted about 45 mins and otherwise it was sunny. My legs ached for two days after but now up for the next challenge.

The London Bridges Challenge  starts at Albert Bridge and snakes along the river to the finish at Tower Bridge. You will walk 9 miles, cross 12 bridges and marvel at some spectacular views of London. It is a demanding route; however, the views are well worth it as you will cross some of London's most iconic bridges, taking in sights up and down the river and get me a little bit closer to this life changing experience.
