World Scholar’s Cup Yale University

I am Riane Carlo G. Oquiza from Ateneo de Manila University Senior High School and currently Grade 11. I am reaching out to you because I would be honored if you would be able to sponsor me in my competition at Yale University on November 8 to 15 for the “World Scholar’s Cup, Tournament of Champions”. Given the circumstances I have right now and the pressure to represent Team Philippines and Ateneo De Manila University, your sponsorship would be a great deal of help for me as I will be needing Monetary Aid for the registration of the tournament, airfare and hotel accommodation.

In light of this, I would like to introduce my character, or as to who I am. I qualified for the tournament at Yale University because of my performance last June at Hanoi, Vietnam in the Global Rounds of World Scholar’s Cup wherein I was part of the top 200 individual scholars, top 200 team scholars, and 70th overall debater out of nearly 1400 scholars around the world. All of these have contributed to me being qualified for the next stage of the tournament. I have also achieved a great deal of success locally, especially in debate and writing tournaments. I’ve been awarded the 8^th Best Speaker of the Philippines (3-way tie) in the Philippine Schools Debate Championship in 2017, Distinguished Individual Awardee in the Ateneo High School Recognition Day 2017, Annual Activity Silver Awardee in the Ateneo High School Activity Awards Day 2017, Champion and Best Speaker of the Finals of Fast Forward Junior Finals Debate Competition in UP Diliman College, Champion of 1^st Zoology Inter-School Debate Championship in UP Los Baños College, Champion, Balangay Cup, Extemporaneous Speaking Filipino in UP Diliman College, 3rd Place International English Writing Competition for Youth UPS - PhilPost, and a consistent honor student in Ateneo de Manila High School. I am also a freelance writer, who writes for blogs and magazines reviewing movies, television shows and products.
