Grace Works Initiative (GWI) is joining the world on April 25 to mark the World Malaria Day, commemorating global efforts to control malaria. GWI have launched a campaign to mobilize and send 1,000 life-saving nets to protect refugee children and pregnant mothers living in Rhino refugee settlement camp in Northern Uganda.

According to the latest estimates released in December 2013, there were about 207 million cases of malaria in 2012 (with an uncertainty range of 135 million to 287 million) and an estimated 627 000 deaths (with an uncertainty range of 473 000 to 789 000).

Most deaths are children living in Africa where a child dies every minute from malaria.

With the rainy season setting in, there are high concerns that the malaria situation for refugees in settlement camps will deteriorate, with fears of severe malaria outbreaks.

But together, we can stop it. Each bednet costs US$ 5 to save a life from mosquito bites. Before April 25, World Malaria Day, let´s all contribute to this fight in buying a bednet and inviting our friends to do the same!
