Campaign Story
MESSAGE
Cyclone IDAI has hit the Manicaland Province, where our Tree Planting event is to take place, hard.
Whilst Marange was not directly affected, it remains that other parts of Manicaland were.
We stand united with our brothers and sisters affected by this natural disaster, and are more committed than ever to ensuring that trees are planted in an effort to fight climate change.
Trees will be planted in memory of the victims of Cyclone IDAI.
Yours green,
Shamiso

Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe ("EBZ") is a grassroot environmental NGO, whose mission it is to promote sustainable environmental protection through community reforestation projects in Zimbabwe.
We have witnessed first hand the impact of years of massive deforestation in rural areas of Zimbabwe: soil erosion, loss of soil fertility, poor agricultural yields, water scarcity, loss of animal habitat and decline in bee population.
But it does not stop there: women and children are also greatly affected. They walk longer distances to look for firewood and fruits, which exhausts them. As a result, women are unable to seek other more productive activities and children drop out of school.
To counter-act the tragic effects of deforestation for the environment and society, we have made it our mission to plant trees.
Our next tree planting event will take place on 7 June 2019, celebrating World Environment Day, at Buwerimwe Secondary School, in Marange (Manicaland Province, Eastern Zimbabwe https://goo.gl/maps/yrkCGakiZQ72), to which you are kindly invited.
This event is part of our "Catch-Them-Young" project which seeks to take afforestation projects to all schools nationally (see https://www.environmentalbuddies.org/catch-them-young). This is to instil values of environmental management in children so that they grow up to be green ambassadors.
We are expecting more than 1000 students and community members to attend and to plant 2000 indigenous trees. Join us by donating!
Shamiso,
Executive Director of EBZ
