My 16 year old son, Ryan, has volunteered to participate in an expedition to Thailand and Cambodia with the World Challenge organisation in June 2014. The program is designed to be mentally and physically challenging in order to take students our of their comfort zone to develop leadership and teamwork skills. Students are responsible for the day to day decisions that make up the expedition. This will include booking accomodation, organising transport, managing the team's itinerary and budget and at some point, being student leader.

The main aim of the expedition is to take part in a community project in Cambodia, which is one of the least developed countries in Asia. The team will be physically involved in improving facilities at an orphanage for children who have lost their parents to AIDS. This is the most rewarding part of the expedition where students interact with the local community and give something beneficial back, putting into perspective our more privileged lives!

Ryan has never flown, never travelled in another country yet he is prepared to take on all the risks to help those less fortunate than himself! I am SO proud of him!

The students have to personally do all the fundraising necessary for the expedition and my appeal to you is to donate any amount, big or small! All donations are sincerely appreciated!

I would like to appeal to each of my Facebook friends to donate R10 ($1.00) and also to please share my link with all of your own Facebook friends!See the website for more exciting details : www.worldchallenge-internationalschools.com
