Campaign Story
Nathan Gumbley and I are planning to challenge ourselves by seeing how much weight we can lift in 8 hours. Our expedition leader, who will witness us completing this challenge has suggested we set ourselves a target of 60 tonnes to lift in this time as a tough challenge. After speaking to a few personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches, it has been decided that we will be starting with the 10 tonne challenge during the first hour, we will then do a further 50 tonnes in the next 7 hours. If we are successful in meeting our target we aim to see how much we can exceed the target by. We plan to do this challenge before our expedition starts on the 7th July 2014. Between now and our departure we are aiming to manage our schoolwork and A2 exams as well as trying to complete this physically demanding challenge. We have both completed other fundraising activities and this is the final stage of our fundraising in order to be able to go to Vietnam and Laos where we will be completeing our World Challenge expedition over a course of 3 and a half weeks. While we are in Vietnam and Laos, we will be trekking through jungle terrain, experiencing and interacting with a new culture that many of us have not experienced before. This will be an incredible opportunity for us but also shocking and eye opening to see how other people live. We will be completing various projects with an orphanage/school in Vietnam in order to help some of the 1.5 million orphaned children gain an education by improving facilities and interacting with them which they may not have previously had.
Please give generously. Any donation is greatly welcomed.
Many thanks.
