I know what you're thinking. 'Oh, this is yet another person asking for money for a personal trip because they're too lazy to work.' This time, I can assure you that that's not the case. Let me explain why...
My name is Zuzanna and I am 15 years old. Recently, I have gotten the amazing opportunity to go to Java and Bali as part of the World Challenge. However, it costs an eye-watering £4,365. To be able to afford to go, I need to raise all of this money by July of 2021. I have already made plans to do this by getting a part-time job, babysitting, dog-walking, doing cake sales, doing a sponsored run and much more. I realise that this is a lot of money but I know that it can be done and I assure you that I will work extremely hard over the course of these next two years. What makes raising money even harder is that I have my GCSEs in 2021 as well. However, I believe that I can overcome this and with perseverance and determination, I will be able to achieve amazing grades in my GCSEs and also get to go on the trip.
The money will be for flight costs; training and equipment for certain activities; insurance; in-country costs (food, accommodation etc.); medical kits; safety gear; financial contribution to local community initiatives and for a trained leader to accompany me along with their 24 hour support centre.
I believe that this will be the right step for me as the expedition will test my skills as a leader and as a team player. This is not like a normal school trip as my team and I will be in charge of planning every single aspect. The only thing that will be pre-planned are our flights and accommodation on the first night. Otherwise, we must learn to fend for ourselves by making sure we have transport to get to our next destination, we have something to eat that day... and somewhere to sleep. I think that this will really push both my physical and mental strength. We will have the chance to climb a 3,000 m-tall volcano, visit local temples and go scuba diving. However, this will not all be fun and games. I will also be doing important conservation work and will be able to choose between replanting trees in the rainforest, saving turtle eggs from poachers and tracking wild animals to see if they have returned to their natural habitats. As well as this, we will stay in a village for a week where we will have the chance to teach English to some local schoolchildren and generally help the people living there.
This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity as I plan to do my A-levels and then go to university once I finish school so I will never have the chance to do this again.
Today I am asking for your help as I need to raise such a huge amount of money and every little helps. I need to raise £720 by the 1st February, 2020, which is a big ask. Like I mentioned previously, I won't just depend on donations from strangers and will do bakes sales, car washes, afternoon teas etc. If I don't raise the money, I will not to be able to go so pleases consider donating. Thank you very much.
