My name is Kenny Myers. I am a veteran of the 101st Airborne division, US Army. I spent over 20 years working in the flooring business, until the housing market collapsed. I then watched my business slowly die, as I depleted my savings. I realized that I would have to adapt and reinvent myself. It took me a while, but I saw that stand up paddling was the fastest growing sport in the country. So in 2011, at age 52, I created a new company with the last of my savings. It didn't do much at first, so I had to sell everything I had and cash in my retirement account (A whopping $30,000)to keep the business going as my home fell into foreclosure and a state of disrepair. I have been working almost every day since then. I have lived in my house for over 30 years, and I am intent on saving it. I am fighting the foreclosure and trying to get a modification from the loan servicer.

I am running the business to the best of my ability, increasing revenues at a terrific rate, but I find myself having to reinvest almost all of what comes in in order to meet the demands of the rapid growth that my company is experiencing. Aside from having to constantly purchase more and more watercraft and related gear, I must also add to my staff in order to meet the logistical requirements of my commitments.

I am trying to raise money for a new work truck. The truck I currently use is a 1999 Ford van. Aside from the fact that it is technically totaled out, it no longer meets the requirements of my business.

I operate a kayak and stand up paddleboard rental and tour company. We serve the general public, as well as event planners, schools, charities, and civic groups such as the Girl Scouts. I' have and plan to continue to support the charitable and civic groups through the issuance of gift certificates that are donated, as well as sponsoring group events that provide opportunities for these organizations to raise monies for their respective causes. In helping me, you can help them too.

I need a Sprinter type van in order to transport kayaks and padlde boards to and from rental and tour locations as well as to pull my trailers. I also need it's greater towing capacity, as I have been offered a larger trailer to use at no cost, but cannot pull it with the van, as is greater than the maximum safe load of my Ford. I can get a reliable used one for $15-20,000.

I am confident that I can save my house and ultimately restore it, but I just can't see how I'm going to come up with the money to purchase another truck. My credit is shot, my savings spent, and my retirement account liquidated some time ago.  I am not complaing that I didn't get a fair shake, or that I am unable to work. It's just that if I am to save my home and avoid poverty, this business has to work. It just has to. If you help me, I can only promise that I will pay it forward in a big way. I always give all that I can in support of my charities, and offer steeply discounted rates to the schools, churches, and civic organizations that I serve.
