Woodworker needs Router

Update posted by Samuel Bennett On Feb 04, 2021

Router is setup and working. A nice feature is that it has a vacuum hookup. We have a wet/dry vac that fits. So, most of the cuttings get sucked up. Not all. But now it's on the balcony so I can clean up with a vacuum instead of getting on hands and knees and sweeping up. My woodshop teacher in 8th grade was a stickler for a clean workplace. He'd show off his left hand missing 2 fingers to emphasize the point along with the story about how it happened. It's a lesson I've carried though the years. Especially in a small workplace such as I work in. Along those lines index to get safety glasses and push sticks before I really get down to business.

Pictures below show drawer I made for practice. The joints, and the bottom show how valuable the router is. Once I figure out measurements, I can make consistent joints, slots, grooves, etc. However, you can see I need some practice!!

My end goal is to make a cabinet for photography supplies, similar to an apothecary cabinet.

This is only an example. I'm not sure what ill endup with.

It's all thanks to you all and your generosity!

Router

Hi all! I bought the router folks gifted. I'm waiting on the table. Also got bits. Nothing fancy as most of first projects will be drawers so I need straight bits for cutting groves for joints etc. My mind has all kinds of ideas but I have learned to go easy and not try the difficult projects first.

I'm thinking of doing an unboxing video. I have never done one before so I'm not sure.

Again thanks to all.

Folks

Your generosity is wonderful. Seeing the donations received has set my creativity on overdrive. I always get a bit frantic when my brain does that. But knowing I can act on ideas is wonderful. I can't wait to get started. Once I do, photos will be on the way!
