Woodland Therapies – Bringing Mental Health Treatments Outdoors

Please support us in our exciting new project to develop a Woodland Therapy site for people of all ages who are presenting with Mental Health difficulties!

This project aims to provide early intervention, drop ins, specialist therapies and groups. We aim to hold the majority of our therapies outdoors and to have many outdoor activities that clients can get involved in to give them a sense of community and purpose! Therapies will be provided for people of all ages and backgrounds

The value of ecotherapy, adventure therapy, forest schools etc has been established for some time. It will be even more important in a Post Covid 19 environment for therapies to take place outdoors.

Our therapists include highly experienced and registered Clinical Psychologists, CBT practitioners, Art Therapists, Counsellors, Youth Workers, Adoption and Fostering Social Workers and many more.

Plans for the future are for Woodland Therapies to be sustained using grants and other funding sources for therapy to be provided free at the point of access.

There is a national crisis in access to Mental Health Services. Many children and adults don’t qualify for specialist mental health care (you have to be extremely poorly to meet threshold). As in much of the country, Derbyshire has an 18 month waiting list for mental health services. Many interventions last for only 6 sessions and almost all of them take place in an office in a hospital building or similar.

We are currently attempting to purchase a piece of woodland in the heart of Derbyshire, UK. We urgently need your help to do so! So many people have suffered as a result of Covid19 and Lockdown. We want to get this project off the ground as soon as possible!

We are asking for people to donate whatever they can. We would love to hear from philanthropists, therapists and others wanting to be involved with our project in the longer term.
