We are a group of students from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. We are part of a martial arts club call Tang Soo Do - a type of Korean karate.
15 members of our club have been selected to represent South African at the Tang Soo Do World Championships in London, August 2018.
Each athlete requires R32 000, of which R8000 needs to be paid as a deposit by the 8th of December in order to represent our country. This means we need to raise just under half a million Rand to send our team to compete.
As you would know, being a full time student and an athlete competing on the international stage is a challenging and expensive en devour - one that is well worth it though.
We are looking for any assistance with regards to helping us raise these funds. Our priority is to make sure that those students who are lest financial able to, get as much funding as possible. There is no reason why someone should not be able to represent South Africa on the international stage just because of their financial background. Any assistance, no matter how small, will go a long way and we would be truly thankful.
We have trained hard over the past few years to get selected and it is an incredible feat that we have 15 members from one small student club that have been selected to represent SA. We are quite familiar with success and we are certain that we can bring back the gold for South Africa.
Our recent achievements are as follows:
