Why Ghana? :
- 60,000 children in the capital of Ghana alone do not go to school but work on the streets.
- It isnt uncommon for parent's to sell their children into slavery for as little as £6.
- Up to 5,000 girls under 13 are prostitutes and slaves in Ghana
What we will be doing In Ghana:
We will be working with local charity groups going to villages in Ghana to raise awarness of child slavery and helping to stop child labour. We will be visiting orphanages amd helping to create/refurbish a school as children dont have universal access to education. We want to make a positive difference to these childrens lives.
Why we need your help:
We need to raise £25,000 to go to Ghana to undertake this work. This will go towards flights, transport, and guides who will take us to the schools, orphanages and villages. We hope to emulate a group who went last year who saved two children from becoming slaves.
