Wings for Dreams

Meet my teenage stepdaughter Alyssa.  She's smart, beautiful, sweet and the apple of my eye....her little brothers are the oranges and bananas and they each have a piece of my heart.:D  Alyssa is the bookwormish, quiet type usually.  The type that hoards books under her bed, reads when she's supposed to be sleeping and will not pass up a "garage sale" in hopes of finding her next big read.  I've always loved how animated she gets when talking about the great stories or some piece of art that's caught her interest.  She's an amazing kid.

Imagine my shock when I take her to the local airport to watch a "fly-in" and she's so enthralled with the air craft that she leaves her book in my purse intead of finding a quiet corner to read.  She was initiating conversations with the pilots and asking a thousand questions about their chosen profession.  I was proud almost to tears and so glad to see the look of awe on her face for something tangible and not some fictional character from a book.  Since the airshow she's taken it upon herself to research and contact her school counselor, flight instructors at her college of choice and local pilots for information...hoping for a mentor of sorts to step forward and help her navigate to the future she wants.  I've never seen her want anything so much. 

We are trying to raise enough funds for a flight lesson...only one lesson for her to experience to see if this is truly something she wants to set her heart on.  We don't have a lot of money and for the past few weeks she's been working on a phonebook delivery route to try to raise the money she needs.  It's going slow but she's trying so hard.  I'm asking for small donations to help her reach her goal of $200.  Any help, encouragement or suggestions would be much appreciated.
